I knew today was going to a wet one. It started raining in the middle of the night and continued through the entire ride. It was cold with temperatures ranging from 49 to 52 degrees. A combination of head winds, rain and cold made for a shortened day. By the time I stopped in Lincoln City I had enough for the day. More rain is in the forecast for tomorrow so a stop in a hotel was warranted to get warm and dry. Lots of good shoulder but the worst ones are always on the uphill. Why are those painted white lines so slick and even more so when they are wet? What can be done about that? They become extremely tricky to navigate when doing 30+ mph on a downhill.
Stats for day 3.
Total mileage = 40.9 wet miles; total elevation gain 1,552 feet with 50% in the last 6 miles; average speed 12.4 mph; and max speed 34.0 mph.
