No riding today. My plan was initially to catch the bus to Breckenridge but when I found out it would take 2 hours each way, forget it. It was also a 1000 foot climb by bike and I need to do that the next day. So my plans changed. No trip to Breckenridge today so it was a massage and a trip to REI to get a new sleeping pad. My pad started to deflate after 4 days of use and I could not find the leak. So I returned it to REI for a full refund and replaced it with a different brand. Hopefully this one works better.
Today is a good day for rest because tomorrow is Hoosier Pass, all 11,500 feet of it. The highest pass on the TransAm route but not the greatest total elevation gain. That was accomplished crossing the Cascades Mountains outside of Eugene, OR at McKenzie Pass. I compare all my passes to McKenzie Pass. After crossing Hoosier Pass I am on my way out of the Rockies and into the flatlands.
