Welcome to Kansas. I finally made it. My nemesis. The land of headwinds no matter which direction you are going. I made it to Kansas by 9 am. Along the way I encountered storm damage to metal silos. It was not caused by the storm the previous night but it reminded me that if I need to take shelter from a storm in the middle of the nowhere “NOT TO HIDE BEHIND METAL CORN SILOS”. The picture shows one that is standing that is now caved in but what is not well shown are the two that are crumpled in the cornfield behind the stand of silos.
Today was a day of headwinds. Not the entire day, but it made of a hot, dry and challenging one. The goal was to stay in a hostel in Scott City, KS at the community indoor pool. I was the only one staying at this hostel this night which was strange but it was also strange that I was given the combination on how to get into the building after hours though I did not have unlimited access to the pool. The people here are so trusting.
